Yes, the “3 minutes, 3 questions” game is back! This time, we present Qafis. During thePhoenix FinTech Conference last June, I had the opportunity to talk to Edwin Nicolaas, CEO of the company, and prepare him for his quick pitch competition by asking him 3 questions. The trap? He had 3 minutes!
YOU HAVE 3 MINUTES. GO!
My name is Edwin Nicolaas and I’m the CEO of Qafis. We deliver convenient and highly secure biometric products and services for all methods of payment and identity protection for various businesses. We are based in London, Amsterdam, Utrecht and Sofia. We have 4 locations in Europe where we work 24/7 to deliver everything on time.
IF YOU WERE ABOUT TO DO QAFIS ALL OVER AGAIN, WHAT WOULD YOU DO DIFFERENTLY?
Nothing! (Laughs) I would only like to add more qualified people in our current team structure. We have high standards and I like to work with people that are smart, enthusiastic and have a high level of knowledge. That’s the only thing I would like to change. We have a dedicated team who is willing to do everything to bring our projects to life and deliver them to our clients on time. Our support team is here to help you 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. We are growing fast but we don’t want to grow too fast. It’s not just about being successful, it’s also about staying successful.
WHAT WAS THE FACTOR OF YOUR SUCCESS?
Our team. Our IT guys, our CFO, CEO etc. I cannot do it alone, our sales team cannot do it alone. We are thinking and working as a team. Our development team has a motto: If you can make it, you can break it. They are constantly searching for the next solution and how we can provide our customers with the best services in the market.
Biometric is all about you. You are the password. We cannot change it. 6 million fingerprints were stolen from the USA government last year. We don’t want to see that happening with Qafis. We have a dedicated team and I am very happy to be part of that team and the CEO of the company as well.
WHAT WAS THE BEST ADVICE YOU EVER RECEIVED OR HEARD?
I must say that I attend many events each year and I listen to a lot of people. People with different background, different career paths. I take advice from each and every one of them because there are a lot of things out there that you can learn and get inspired by.
